Meet Sir William King
A Relentless Advocate for Oregon's 4th District
Hello, I'm Sir William King, and I'm running to represent Oregon's 4th Congressional District. My journey has taken me across our beautiful state—from Beaverton to Carlton, Redmond to Albany—immersing me in the diverse communities that make Oregon unique.
Early Life and Unyielding Determination
Born in Portland in 1995, I experienced the challenges and triumphs of a military family. With my mother serving in the Army and my father as a steadfast stay-at-home parent, I learned the values of dedication and resilience early on. Despite facing personal challenges, including navigating life with autism, I graduated high school and embarked on a path of service.
Commitment to Service and Community
My passion for helping others led me to roles at Camp Tamarack Outdoor School and various summer camps, where I mentored and guided young minds. Soon, I was accepted into the Cadet Corps at Norwich University. Though my time at Norwich University's War and Peace program was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances, it reinforced my resolve to serve and advocate for others.
Overcoming Adversity and Renewed Purpose
In 2020, I faced a personal crisis that reshaped my perspective; during this time, I also discovered I was Asexual. With the support of loved ones and a renewed sense of purpose, I emerged more determined to effect meaningful change. This period deepened my interest in politics, inspired by leaders like Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This was the time I also began participating in protesting.
Professional Experience and Advocacy
In 2022, a family health crisis led me to become a Home Care Worker in Albany. This role offered firsthand insight into the challenges faced by caregivers and the elderly. My election as a district representative for SEIU 503 in 2023, though brief, underscored the importance of union representation and workers' rights.
Vision for Change and Accountability
Witnessing the political landscape, I grew increasingly frustrated with the two-party system's failures and the alarming rise of authoritarianism. This frustration, combined with a deep commitment to my community, propelled me to run for Congress. I pledge to:
- Engage Constituents Directly: Beyond regular town halls, I will collaborate with you to draft legislation, ensuring your voices shape our laws.
- Demand Higher Standards: I will hold fellow politicians accountable, challenging complacency and opposing the erosion of our democratic values.
- Champion Transparency: Every vote I cast will be accompanied by clear explanations, fostering trust and open communication.
- Focus Solely on Serving You: I commit to dedicating my entire term to serving the district without campaigning for re-election. Your support should be earned through actions, not persistent advertising.
